Shot Tower Historic Landmark
Downtown
Built in 1856 by gunsmith George W. Rogers, this 120-foot limestone tower on Dubuque's riverfront is one of only a handful of surviving shot towers in the United States. Molten lead was once dropped from the top to form perfectly round lead shot, and today the structure stands as a free public landmark in the Port of Dubuque.
